1st place winner Alyssa Mae Ibones, Grade 12 HUMSS strand, is the second Ateneo Heater and Filipino to win the said contest
The 2024 Harvard Crimson Global Essay Competition winners have been announced and our very own Ateneo Hearter HUMSS student, Alyssa Mae Ibones won 1st place in the creative category! She’s now the second Ateneo Heater and Filipino to win the competition. Alyssa’s work was one of the top 12 among the final 75 essays.
The Harvard Crimson Global Essay Competition (HCGEC) brings together ambitious high school students (aged 13 – 18) from around the world with a passion for, or interest in writing. According to last year’s data, over 5,000+ participants from 110 countries participated in the contest.
Ateneo Hearter formator, Ms. Nancy Toledo, served as the coach for Alyssa in the competition.
Global winners are awarded cash prize, exclusive Harvard Crimson internship with Letter of Recommendation, and have their essays published on the official HCEC website.
Another Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu student, Dominic Craig Carpio, from the HUMSS strand, was the first Ateneo Hearter and Filipino to win champion in the same contest in 2023.
