After a long hiatus, the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) academic and cultural events have their comeback. As of the 2018 season, CESAFI has organized 14 academic and cultural events.
One of the anticipated academic events every CESAFI is the declamation contest, which is participated by twelve (12) member schools.
On May 4, 2023, CESAFI held its declamation contest 2022 season in coordination with the University of San Carlos. The contest was held at the Buchcick Hall 1 of the USC-South Campus. Ten (10) schools participated in the Elementary and High School Divisions.
All representatives from the High School division practiced and mastered the same declamation piece – The Visit by Dr. Mila C. Espina. Moreover, the representatives incorporated their interpretation of the piece in their declamation performance.
Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu sent Jaienne Braveree Suralta from Grade 11-Gaudium as the declamation contest representative. Suralta was chosen unanimously by the senior high school department because of her theater and public speaking skills.
On the competition day, Suralta showcased her commendable theatrics during her performance. The spectators applauded Suralta because of her psychotic interpretation of the piece.
Desa Handucana from the University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue won the 3rd Place.
Zeyar Andrea B. Sia from the Cebu Institute of Technology-University grabbed the 2nd Place.
Jaienna Braveree Suralta from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu clinched the Championship title.
Mr. Noah F. Acedo, a Senior High School HUMSS-CMA Faculty member, coached Suralta for the said competition.
