In every successful endeavor, it is only fitting to pause and thank God for His sustaining grace. However, true fulfillment comes not only in celebrating success, but in extending that joy to others, especially to those in need. This spirit of gratitude and generosity was at the heart of the Grade School Science Area’s culminating activity for Science Week 2025. A meaningful social involvement activity with Canduman Elementary School beneficiaries on September 27, 2025 was organized by the GS Science teachers to culminate the Science Week celebration. The activity, called “S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) on Wheels”, gave 23 pupils and 3 teachers the chance to experience Science through hands-on learning stations held at Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu.
The program followed a carousel-style learning journey across five exciting stations. In Station 1, Mr. Jared Yuson introduced the fascinating world of the microscope, highlighting its role in exploring cells and scientific experiments. In Station 2, Ms. Jeraldine Iglesias guided students through a tech-simulation on electricity, showing how technology enriches Science learning. Station 3, led by Mr. Fidel Pleños, brought engineering concepts to life by linking force and design through an interactive activity. In Station 4, Ms. Kate Tulod merged Science and Art with pendulum painting, allowing pupils to see creativity and physics at work. Finally, in Station 5, Ms. Kathy Maringuran led an origami-making session that celebrated both mathematical patterns and meaning in every fold and form.
The activity closed with a heartfelt sharing, where pupils expressed what they learned and how they felt during the activities. Guided by Mr. Jonemel Alforque, Mrs. Melanie Abello, and Ms. Pia Bordadora, the reflection activity gave voice to the students’ excitement, gratitude, and newfound appreciation for science. The experience was capped with a simple meal where smiles, and conversations were exchanged, small gestures that carried deep meaning.
More than a culminating activity, STEAM on Wheels embodied the mission of teaching as an act of service. True to the Ignatian spirit of “giving without counting the cost,” the teachers paid it forward despite the demands of Science Week 2025. In doing so, they not only enriched minds but also touched hearts, proving that Science, when shared, can truly inspire hope and build connections that last beyond the classroom.
