On a Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, the Early Education Unit of Sacred Heart School–Ateneo de Cebu invited the Blue Plate Project recipients and parent volunteers from Cubacub, Casili, and Pagsabungan Elementary Schools for a day of fun and learning. There were twenty-six children, twenty parents/guardians, and two teachers who came to join the activity.
The heart of the program focused on providing the visitors with simple yet enjoyable, engaging, and meaningful activities, as well as moments of connection. The event started with a short prayer followed by warm and welcoming remarks given by the Early Education Unit Coordinator, Teacher Denise Sanchez.
Children were grouped to do some arts and crafts and interactive games, while the parents had a separate session discussing teamwork and challenges met as parent volunteers. The participants openly shared the highlights and challenges they encountered in the daily preparation of food for the children. Above all, they were grateful to the SHS–Ateneo de Cebu community for the initiative of the project, along with the friendship that has developed over the years. After a productive session, the parent volunteers delighted themselves in some games as well.
The event was concluded through a simple salu-salo for lunch and kids’ playtime at the outdoor playground.
