On October 9, 2024, the Early Education Unit celebrated the Ignatian Heroes’ Appreciation Day (IHEAD).
One of the highlights of the day was the special participation of two parents from each class from Nursery 1 to Kindergarten. These parent volunteers were invited to take on the role of teachers, both in the morning and afternoon sessions. It was a beautiful opportunity for parents to experience firsthand the joy and challenges of guiding young learners.
The parents led various activities in the classrooms, from outdoor exercises, storytelling, and fun activities. The children were thrilled to see their parents as teachers, and it fostered a stronger bond between home and school. This unique experience underscored the collaborative spirit that is at the heart of Ignatian education, where the entire community is involved in the growth and formation of each child.
As the day drew to a close, a touching assembly took place, led by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Officers of the Early Ed Unit. In a gesture of appreciation, all the parent-teacher volunteers were given certificates, and all the Early Education teachers and teacher-aides were honored with flowers and tokens. These heartfelt gifts symbolized the community’s gratitude for all the teachers’ dedication, patience, and love for the children. In addition, the kindergarten pupils presented their special surprise for their teachers: a handmade flower and card that was made during their Art classes as a token of appreciation for their teachers.
The IHEAD celebration is not just a day filled with gratitude, respect, and joy but a shared commitment of all the individuals who contribute to the growth of every young Ateneo Hearter. It showcased the importance of collaboration among all members of the Early Education community. It emphasizes that when everyone works together, we create a lasting impact on the lives of the young learners.
