Last Friday, October 4, 2024, the Early Education Unit of the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu celebrated the Feast of the Guardian Angels and its First Caregivers’ Day. This event serves as a way of showing an appreciation to all caregivers, who embody the spirit of angels through their hard work and care of the young Ateneo Hearters.
The activity started with the para-liturgy led by Sir Reymart A. Tan from CSMIO, who talked about the role of guardian angels. He emphasized that angels can also be ordinary people, like caregivers, family members, and friends at school who readily help. Following this heartfelt reminder, the pupils then offered school materials to be given to the partner schools of SHS – Ateneo de Cebu. Few caregivers were invited to grace the said event. They also received tokens of appreciation from the pupils. In return, two of them gave a warm message as a response.
The second part of the celebration was filled with excitement as pupils enthusiastically participated in various games and earned prizes. The assembly ended with a community song fostering a sense of unity and joy. Afterward, all pupils returned to their respective classrooms for the salo-salo and got ready for the much-awaited Pajama Time!
To the pupils’ fun and delight, they came to school with their pajama attire on. With their mats, they pretended to be asleep inside the classroom while waiting for the angel’s visit. When the angel finally arrived, their faces lit up with excitement, for they received warm greetings and chocolates.
The genuine happiness and amazement shown by our Early Education pupils during the Guardian Angels and Caregivers’ Day activities reflected the event’s success. It was a day filled with appreciation, fun, and community spirit, reminding us all of the important roles that caregivers play in our lives.
