The Senior High School Department of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) conducted the 3rd International College and Career Exposure (iC2E) in Japan from June 8 to 14, 2023. The iC2E program aims to provide opportunities for the students to integrate concepts, principles, skills, and values developed from Senior High School core, applied, and specialized subjects with a GLOCAL perspective wherein a global paradigm was applied in a local context.
A summer’s well-spent for the 46-strong Ateneo Hearter delegation who visited Sophia University, a 110-year-old world-class Jesuit university in Tokyo, Japan. During their visit, they were welcomed through a session on the “Sophia Program for Sustainable Futures (SPSF)” by Professor Maria Manzon of the Department of Education, and a short talk about admissions and university introduction was conducted by the Admissions Office.
The iC2E delegates also toured
around the campus and attended an active learning session on “Understanding
Life at the Molecular Level” by Dr. Jiro Kondo of the Department of
Materials and Life Sciences.
Moreover, they listened to the educational journey and experiences of Mr. Michael Allen Dy Rapes, SHS-AdC ABM Strand Alumnus Batch 2020, who is currently studying in the Faculty of Liberal Arts of Sophia University. The testimony inspired the senior high students to consider Sophia University as their choice for college or tertiary. Mr. Rapes was also a delegate of the 2nd iC2E in Japan way back in 2019 which inspired him to study at Sophia University after the experience.
The trip was capped off by a send-off mass and tour at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church also known as the Kōjimachi Catholic Church led by Fr. Bony James, S.J. The church is affiliated with Sophia University, and it is located near Yotsuya Station.
After 5 months, this November 2023, Sophia University and Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu entered into a 2-year agreement wherein SHS-AdC was selected as a designated overseas school under Sophia University’s Overseas Designated School Entrance Examination System. This partnership between the two institutions aims to foster human resources who will be able to contribute to international society, and, through cooperation between both parties, deepen friendship between Japan and the Philippines. With this strategic alliance, Sophia University may accept up to 3 senior high school graduates per academic year from SHS-AdC.

Mr. Danilo I. Dillo, Jr., MBA is a Google Certified Educator Level 1, a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer, and the incumbent Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) Strand Head of the Senior High School Department of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu. He spent two (2) years as a Juris Doctor student at the University of Cebu – School of Law. He finished his Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB), Ateneo de Manila University. He received a “Social Impact Award” from the Oxford Business Group in relation to scaffolding the younger generation to develop “The AgriCOOLtural Mindset”. He is also an Incorporator of Unigrow Agricultural Development and Services Corp., a company dedicated to building sustainable and self-sufficient communities, giving dignity to the farmers as a profession, and assuring food stability for the unknown future.
