Honoring the Angels in Our Lives: Early Education Unit’s Feast of the Guardian Angels and Caregivers’ Day

By: Denise Corina L. Sanchez (GS Faculty)

Amid the typically high-spirited activities done at the Early Education Unit, there is one event that reminds us of the quiet, enduring power of care and protection. On October 6, 2025, the EEd Unit celebrated the Feast of the Guardian Angels and Caregivers’ Day. While one celebrates our heavenly protectors and the other honors earthly heroes, both celebrations are a beautiful reminder of the selfless dedication of those who watch over, guide, and comfort others.

The celebrations for both morning and afternoon sessions began with a paraliturgy led by Fr. Nono Levosada, SJ, who lovingly reminded the pupils that they have heavenly friends who are always near, even if we cannot see them. In his short homily, he led the pupils to appreciate their yayas and drivers who generously dedicate their lives taking care of them and bringing them to school and back home safely every day. Also introduced were three boys dressed up as St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, and St. Michael, the three archangels after whom the class sections in the Early Education Unit are named after. Furthermore, the pupils also offered school materials that will be donated to the students in our partner communities.

The paraliturgy was then followed by a series of fun, angel-themed games enjoyed by the pupils from Nursery 1, Nursery 2, and Kinder. One of the highlights of the celebration was the participation of our special guests: the kindergarten pupils and parents from Pagsabungan Elementary School. They participated in fun games alongside the invited caregivers (yayas and drivers) of our Ateneo Hearters. The kindergarten pupils from Pagsabungan Elementary School joyfully brought home loot bags filled with school supplies. Our young Ateneo Hearters were also delighted to see our friends from the CMSIO, dressed up as angels, and to give them treats while they were enjoying a feast shared by everyone.

The day ended with a quiet moment of reflection where our young Ateneo Hearters were reminded that they are never alone and that they are called to look out for each other and be an angel to others.

Happy Feast Day, Early Education pupils!
