SHS-ADC GS Welcomes School Year 2025 – 2026

          Back to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Grade School community welcomed the new academic year 2025 – 2026 with an assembly at the Grade School Courtyard last July 2, 2025. During the gathering, Mme. Lea P. Amores, the Grade School principal motivated the young Ateneo Hearters to be their brightest this school year by introducing the empowering acronym “SHINE” (Show kindness. Help others. Imagine your dreams. Never give up. Explore your potential). The character prefects, Mr. Francis Dann Singco and Mrs. Karina Pepito, also gave reminders for pupils, teachers, and parents to follow.

          After walking up to their respective classrooms, the young learners began practicing essential classroom routines and procedures to ensure a well-organized class. The first three days of school were packed with orientation sessions designed to equip learners with the tools and guidance they need for a successful school year. During the first day, the Ateneo Hearters were guided through the four fundamental classroom rules: pay attention at all times; respect people and properties; submit requirements punctually; and always keep your area clean. They also practiced daily routines such as the proper way to pass papers, use the restroom, and participate by answering questions or sharing ideas with the class. The rehearsal of daily routines continued on the second day, July 3, 2025. On this day, they also unpacked important phrases from the school’s vision and mission, breaking down big ideas such as Ignatian spirituality, 21st-century learning community, and transformational leadership into easy-to-understand concepts for the young learners. The children also explored the inspiring life of their class patron saint, deepening their understanding and connection. Furthermore, they took a Multiple Intelligences test, which will assist them in choosing clubs that best match their strengths. At the end of the day, they rehearsed the correct procedures for cleaning the classroom during the Work Education period.

          On the third day, the Ateneo Hearters journeyed back to 1955 to discover the rich history of their school and its humble beginnings. Following this, they attended concurrent sessions with the Integral Ecology coordinator, character prefects, and guidance counselors in their respective grade-level venues. They listened actively to the discussion on the school’s Zero Waste policy, the significance of maintaining discipline as students, and the various services provided by the guidance team. In the afternoon, the pupils learned about proper netiquette and the serious offenses they should avoid throughout the school year.

          For the teachers, the orientation sessions during the first three days of school were grounded in Harry Wong’s principle of thorough preparation for effective classroom management. For the young learners, these sessions served as a guiding compass toward achieving student success. Entering its 70th year, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu welcomes the 2025–2026 school year with a steadfast commitment to shine as a beacon of hope for all. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
