The RVO–JVO Scholarship Program of Sacred Heart School–Ateneo de Cebu held its annual Scholars’ Assembly at the Confucius Room, highlighted by the historic first induction of Grade 7 scholars into the scholarship community.
The gathering was formally opened by Ms. Jaja Patrona, Coordinator for Admission and Scholarship, who welcomed participants and introduced the distinguished guests. In attendance were Fr. Mike Pineda, SJ (School President), Fr. Nono Levosada, SJ (Director of Campus Ministry and Social Involvement Office), Fr. Irmo Valeza, SJ (School Chaplain), Mr. Roberto Joseph Galvan (Junior High School Principal), Mme. Annie Abucay (Senior High School Principal), and members of the Guidance Services Team: Mrs. Razel Suazo (JHS Guidance Coordinator), Mr. John Henric Salva (Grade 7), Ms. Diozenith Azucena (Grade 8), Mr. Russel Austin Dreggs Ungab (Grade 9), Ms. Kim Irene Manaloto (Grade 10), Mrs. Marie Paulit Realiza (Grade 11), and Mr. Janus Capuyan (Grade 12).
The program featured testimonies from scholars across grade levels. Grade 12 students spoke about their plans after graduation and offered advice to younger scholars. Grade 8 to 11 scholars shared insights from their leadership roles and personal growth experiences. The newly inducted Grade 7 scholars delivered their first impressions of life at SHS-AdC and expressed their gratitude for becoming part of the Ateneo Hearter community.
A brief presentation on the RVO Foundation and its programs underscored the continuing support extended not only to current scholars but also to alumni.
In their messages, the Jesuit fathers and school administrators emphasized that the scholarship program is more than academic assistance. They encouraged scholars to lead with purpose, nurture their gifts in service of others, and recognize that a scholarship is both an opportunity and a responsibility.
The assembly reaffirmed the RVO–JVO Scholarship Program’s mission to form leaders for others—young men and women who embody resilience, gratitude, and hope. It also highlighted the transformative impact of investing in education, showing how support for a few students can create a ripple effect that benefits families, communities, and future generations.
