Sacred Heart School—Ateneo de Cebu held the annual intramurals, otherwise known as Magis Fest, for senior high school students last October 16 – 19, 2024, with the theme “Champions for Others: Empowering the Youth, Sharing Sustainable Vision, and Realizing Collective Victories with the Communities.” The four days of grit and determination demonstrated by the students to truly become champions for others were admirable and unforgettable. With that, here’s the rundown of all sports events held on the second day of this year’s Magis Fest.
The games commenced in the afternoon due to the delayed morning program of the Vocal Showdown, Duet Singing Competition, and Mr. and Ms. Magis. The Frisbee game and Valorant e-sports game finals were conducted on the third day due to the modified schedule.






House Faber upsets House Loyola with a 25-15 win at the Lux Oriens Gym. House Faber went undefeated as they triumphed over House Xavier and House Loyola with a score of 17-15 and 15-13 in the final sets. Although House Loyola was on the verge of 3rd place, they persevered as they defeated House Xavier with a 15-11 victory, which allowed House Loyola to have a rematch with House Faber. However, House Faber came out strong as they defeated House Loyola with a score of 25-15, thus making House Faber the Men’s Volleyball Mixed category champions.
Jeremiah Chance Lavina (11-Pax) of House Faber won the Grade 11 Male Badminton Singles at the Lux Oriens Gym. House Faber displayed dominance in this category by defeating Christer Sia (11-Gravitas) of House Loyola and Gabriel Delima (11-Caritas) of House Xavier respectively. A match between Gabriel Delima and Christer Sia was conducted to determine which team faced off against the undefeated House Faber. It ended with a House Xavier victory thus allowing House Xavier to rematch against House Faber. The final match proceeded with House Xavier and House Faber respectively. After a tough match, Lavina of House Faber came on top and secured first place with a final score of 21-19, 21-8, thus giving House Faber the most points.






House Xavier won in the Male Badminton Singles for Grade 12 at the Lux Oriens Gym. The day started with a match between Faber’s Keith Angeles (12-Fides) and Xavier’s Alhnier James Malunjao (12-Fortes), where Xavier scored 15-31. Angeles then played against Loyola’s Marc Lumpot (12-Magis), winning with a score of 31-30. Next, Malunjao continued to dominate, defeating Lumpot with a score of 24-31. Faber and Loyola then competed for second and third place, with Faber winning once again with a score of 31-20. The final was a rematch between Faber and Xavier, ending with Xavier’s victory with a score of 21-15 in the last set. Xavier’s Alhnier James Malunjao shared his thoughts about reaching the finals, calling it a nice victory influenced by his experiences from last year and the hard work he put into his training. During the finals, he felt nervous due to the competition’s uncertainty, but he also had moments of confidence. He was satisfied with his performance despite making a few mistakes.
The senior high school students engaged in the Bahaw-Bahaw game at the Magis Eagles Arena. The game featured players from House Faber, Loyola, and Xavier. In the face-off for the championship, House Loyola emerged victorious against Faber, while Xavier was deemed disqualified due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
House Loyola comes face-to-face against House Faber for the championship title in the Male and Female’s Grade 11 Table Tennis at the Magis Eagles’ Arena (MEA) Basement. Loyola’s Nathan Flores (11-Lux) dominated the battle for first place against Faber’s Hyung Joon Kim (11-Gratia) with a close call of 3-2 in the Male’s Table Tennis. On the other hand, for the Female Table Tennis, House Loyola’s Francine Hingoyon (11-Gravitas) exited the MEA Basement victorious against House Xavier’s Sweet Banilad (11-Veritas).






Joaquin Sale (12-Magis) reigned in first place for House Loyola in the Scrabble competition against House Xavier and House Faber represented by Margarette Baang (11-Caritas) and Franchezca Almagro (12-Eloquentia) respectively. All three representatives competed in a revised version of the board game in a single round. The order of the game was determined by each representative randomly picking a tile from the bag, the player who had the closest letter to A began first. Loyola set the mood of the game by playing the first move, followed by Faber, then Xavier. It was an intense battle of wits as the representatives took turns playing their moves. In the end, House Loyola won first place with House Xavier placing first runner-up. House Faber put up a good fight, gracefully coming in second runner-up.






House Loyola takes the first spot in Patintero held on Day 2 of the Magis Fest at the poolside court of the Lux Oriens Gym. After a fierce battle with Faber and Xavier, Loyola claimed the spot, gaining more points throughout the almost 3-hour game played by all houses.
