Grade School Department Orientations for New Parents and Pupils Kickstart

          The Grade School Department of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, led by the Grade School Principal, Mrs. Lea P. Amores, assistant principals, Ms. Marisse V. Paraoan (Academics) and Mrs. Mae Divina C. Velasco (Student Formation), and the Early Education coordinator, Mrs. Denise L. Sanchez had a good jumpstart to school year 2024-2025 through the orientation sessions for new parents and pupils. The orientation contained the theme “Re-imagining Paths to Competence and Character”. There were three sets of orientation that were hosted for the new parents and pupils. The first orientation was for the new Early Education parents held at the Virginia Chiongbian Theater last July 15, 2024. The orientation for new Grades 1 to 6 parents was also held at the Virginia Chiongbian Theater, simultaneous with the orientation for new Grades 1 to 6 pupils at the Early Education library last July 17, 2024.

          The new parents and pupils’ orientation sessions were an avenue for both parents and the school to build trust and to establish connections and a clear understanding of the school’s vision and mission for our young Ateneo Hearters.

          The orientation session for new parents began with the school president’s (Fr. Michael I. Pineda, SJ) presentation of the school’s vision-mission of forming transformational and socially responsive leaders among the new Ateneo Hearters who just joined the school community. After which, Mrs. Amores presented the curricular and co-curricular offerings, grading system, 6-day cycle, different offices, and other programs of the grade school department. Ms. Paraoan handed over the First Days of School checklist and reminders so new parents would be guided when they start preparing for the start of classes on July 24, 2024. Then, Mr. Markwil Ramos, the school’s scout master, oriented the parents on possible drop-off points and parking areas and guidelines. Lastly, Mrs. Bernie Poliquit, the coordinator for Integral Ecology Advocacy presented the school’s advocacy on the care of the common home. The session ended with a productive open forum which helped clarify parents’ questions and concerns.

          The new parents and pupils’ orientations allowed the school to share its vision-mission, goals, core values, programs, and activities and helped welcome our new members to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, their new home.
