GLOBAL HORIZONS: Shaping the Next Generation of Sustainable Entrepreneurs

GLOBAL HORIZONS: Shaping the Next Generation of Sustainable Entrepreneurs

What does it really mean to build a successful business?

For the Grade 11 Global Business Pathway and Grade 12 ABM students of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, the answer went beyond profit.

Through the 6th Business Conference, themed “GLOBAL HORIZONS: Navigating Through Sustainable Enterprise,” students were given an opportunity to learn from accomplished alumni and industry leaders who are building businesses, organizations, and ideas that create meaningful impact.

The conference featured Patrick “Pax” Doromal (Batch 2008), Founder and Executive Chairman of Kapwa Agroforestry Corporation; Allen Arvin Tan (Batch 1994), Fair Director of Tubô Cebu Art Fair and Trustee of the Arts Council of Cebu; and Carlo Delantar (Batch 2009), Partner and Head of Sustainability at Gobi Partners and Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia honoree.

Their stories opened students’ eyes to different possibilities—from sustainable agriculture and social enterprise to the creative economy, responsible sourcing, and the circular economy. Each speaker demonstrated that businesses can address real-world challenges while creating opportunities for people and communities.

Students also explored innovation through Justin Javelosa’s (Batch 2018) work in eco-friendly agricultural machinery and the inspiring cacao journey of siblings Rose Angelie Choa and John Paul Choa, who showed how a local product can become a source of creativity, enterprise, and even art—from bean to beverage to brush.

The conference also reminded students that building a sustainable future begins with personal responsibility. Through Vanessa Kaye Parame’s session on personal finance, students learned the importance of understanding their spending, distinguishing needs from wants, saving wisely, and making responsible financial decisions.

More than the lessons from each session, the conference left students with a bigger perspective: business is not only about what we earn, but about what we create, who we empower, and the difference we make.

As they prepare to become the next generation of business leaders, the students were challenged to look beyond what is possible today and imagine what they can build for tomorrow.

Because with the right vision, business can be more than an enterprise—it can be a force for meaningful and sustainable change. ✨
